NOVO Brazil Brewing Company’s new sports bar in the Mission Valley mall is holding a watch party for San Diego State’s opening game in the men’s Mountain West Conference tournament Thursday at 2:30 p.m. against UNLV.  Cheer on the Aztecs while choosing from more than 60 beers and kombuchas on tap, including Azteks Raspberry Kombucha, which was made in collaboration with players on the team via MESA Foundation, an official Name, Image, Likeness (NIL) partner of SDSU. Should they win, a watch party will be held for the next game Friday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m. and then Saturday, March 16 at 3:00 p.m. 1640 Camino Del Rio North, #341

Friday, March 15

NOVO Brazil Brewing Company is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at its original Chula Vista brewery and taproom on Friday, March 15 starting at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy live music from rock, punk, and blues band The Agents of Apollo until 7:30 p.m. Then at 8:00 p.m., DJ Qenoe takes over. Food vendors for the evening include San Diego favorite Cali BBQ, along with Rico Rico Snack Bar and El Rey Tacos a Vapor. In addition to (green) beer selections, hard and non-alcoholic kombucha from NOVO’s sister brand NOVA will also be available. Saturday, March 16

Georges at the Cove continues its monthly 40th anniversary alumni series on Saturday, March 16 with a cocktail party in the Level2 bar area with former Beverage Directors Sam Peters and Stephen Kurpinsky. Tickets are available here for $80, and the price includes three featured cocktails and tray-passed appetizers – and there are two sessions to choose from: 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. While at Georges, Kurpinksy and Peters created Neighborhoods of San Diego and Floras of San Diego, bespoke programs to tell the story of San Diego through cocktails. Peters is now the owner of SPK Bar Hospitality & Training and Kurpinsky is the U.S. Brand Ambassador for Mr Black Coffee Liqueur. Kurpinsky is flying in from New York City for the event. Country music’s Ashley McBryde brings her The Devil I Know Tour to The Magnolia in El Cajon. Tickets start at $64.50 and are available here to see the singer-songwriter who won the 2023 Grammy for Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Carly Pearce for their duet “Never Wanted To Be That Girl”. Common Theory Public House, known for its diverse, ever-evolving draft beer list and Asian-influenced gastropub menu in the Convoy District, hosts a grand opening celebration at its Otay Ranch location on Tuesday, March 19. The day includes a ribbon cutting at 11:00 a.m., a scheduled appearance by Chula Vista Mayor John McCann, and 99-cent beers to the first 99 guests (21 years of age and older). The current tap menu includes two selections from acclaimed Russian River Brewing: Velvet Glow Helles Lager and Russian River Porter.
